Late as always (it’s out there since 16/07) I’d like to note that Cognos EP 8.2 is out.
It’s really a major release with quite a number of new features, including:
- Transfer of annotations between applications by admin links(that was urgently needed for matrix agreement)
- Attachments in contributor — a possibility to attach a file to every number in Contrib app (like a pdf scan of contract to expense ratio). And they can be transfered by admin links as well
- Transformer model creation as admin extension
- And mine favorite – Framework packages as source in admin links. Which means any external data can be loaded into contrib app w\o using Analyst & in parallel
- Single Cognos Connection logon and Contributor as a studio in cognos connection. Just nice integrated look&feel.
- Publishing contrib macros as tasks to cognos connection — that basically kills our asp-macro call utility (which is good, imnho). You can now put a link to administrative procedure to cognos connection and facilitate cognos connection security.
Guess it’d be buggy until sp1, so it’s autumn for production, summer for self-testing.
