Hi Veronica.

A lot changed since this post, TM1 got up to 9.5 and things got better.
Still hoping to write about this (next week, maybe).

Hi Ykud,
Thanks for sharing your findings.
Were you able to resolve the locking issues in TM1?
I heard this may be an issue with TM1, just trying to look into it.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Hi, Peter.

I've rediscovered TM1 Workflow Server since I wrote this post, so I'm not that critical anymore. Nowadays the only problems I see are: some issues with Workflow Server installations (that goes away with experience, I'm sure) and lack of confidence while designing models for hundreds of users (that goes away as well, just right now I have some negative experience, so I'm pretty cautious).

I'm thinking about writing more on EP + TM1 future, just need to recap my thoughts more.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hi, I'm wondering why do you think that TM1 Workflow capabilities are limited when comparing EP. I'm able to override default workflow behavior within minutes. Show me how you implement top-down planning process in EP and override default submit actions, e-mail users right below you etc.

Hi Yuri,
haven't heard from you for a while. Have you been in Germany, Karlsruhe? :-)
Interesting experience. Have you been able to win the project?

Best regards

Hi Pablo.
It's not about memory usage, it's mostly locking and threading mechanism problems. During my toying with TM1 server I've more than once encountered situations where long user inputs (like TI loading) lead to server locks (nobody else could work at that time). Since locking mechanism is fairly new (as I understand, it was introduced in 9 version) -- there seems a long way to go.
And also there's a big open question for me with workflow organication. Workflow manager didn't impress me yet )

Big scale TM1 applications (described in Cognos presentations) use a number of TM1 servers to solve data latency and speed problems. But managing a bunch of distributed servers can be a tedious task.

Hi Ykud,

About TM1 Scalability, using 64 version it could scale to hundreds or thousands of users ?
Why not using diferent tm1 applications One for Finance and 1 or more to each location and then integrate all of them on TM1 ?

I'm already cognos planning consultant and I know very well contributor limitations.
