A short product update notice:

Cognos TM1 10.2 is out

TM1Tutorials are the first with the list of new features, congrats!

A whole bag of candy, notably:

• Performance enhancements: given that TM1 in the cloud will become real with this release, there must’ve been another major update to locking model. I would doubt it’s possible to have server-wide locking operations and think TM1 is cloud-ready, so changes must’ve been massive. So new locks — new contention bugs, yahoo!
• TM1Web totally rewritten to Java: Finally you don’t need Windows at all and can use AIX/Linux for all components. Go blue! Did I mention bugs already?
• Contributor iPad app: for whatever reason was the main thing I’ve heard rumours about for year at least
• Data flow diagramming in Performance Modeler: looks like I can finally put tm1mn to rest. And Performance Modeler is becoming the main modelling tool, I’d guess we’ll all be reminiscing about Architect over beers in just a few years )

Cognos 10.2.1 Fp1 is out

Just randomly found it at Fix Central. Am I the only one who wants an ability to subscribe to fix central updates instead of searching every now and then? Fix list is usual IBM’s “Page unavailable” right now, so I’m not really sure what’s changed. I’m sure that we’ll know soon.

I’m having issues with 10.1.1 DQM on TM1 reports after 10.2.1 upgrade, hope that this FP will alleviate them )

Update: FP1 didn’t help, but now I at least have an idea of what’s happening with my reports:

It’s a 10.2.1 BI new feature called LOLAP (I’m not joking you, it’s really called Local OLAP, honestly) and I’ve already seen underfed cells causing report issues where there were none previously. And that’s not all of it, MDX parsing changed as well. Am I happy?

Oh, I’m absolutely blown away, new parser, DQM reports not working after upgrade, data missing where it was before — it’s just like Christmas came early!
